LCA - Leibniz’s Correspondents and Acquaintances

Leibniz’s Correspondents and Acquaintances

A site devoted to G.W. Leibniz’s intellectual network

This site hosts the LCA project, an initiative of the Italian society of Leibnizian studies Sodalitas Leibnitiana, together with the Francophone, Romanian, and Spanish societies, as well as the Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz-Gesellschaft, under the patronage of the Leibniz-Archiv.
The principal outcome of the project will be an Online Dictionary of Leibniz’s Correspondents and Acquaintances (LCA). Leibniz's network of intellectual, political, diplomatic, and religious communication and collaboration extended to all parts of Europe, to Russia and even to China. For a large part it is represented in his immense correspondence, that is enlisted in the Unesco’s Memory of the World Register.
Not only the research project will deliver a complete prosopographic description of Leibniz’s intellectual network, and map conceptual exchanges within it, but the website will provide as well a source of information on Leibniz, and a lieu of collaboration for the European Leibnizian societies.
Information on the project and its progress can be found in the website. The present list of Correspondents on which the project is based is an original contribution that improves on formerly available sources. Existing information on Correspondents can be accessed through the Search form. The site also shows a working list that you should check if you would like to collaborate with the project.
